Corio is a naturally spectacular place, with heritage listed wetlands and coastline. Its name comes from the Wadawurrung word 'Corayo' meaning sandy or saltwater, and for over 45,000 years the Wadawurrung people lived on these shores. For the last 100 years it's been a roaring manufacturing hub, and its people have made and shaped many of the products and materials our country relies on.
And now, this area just north of Geelong is starting to finally get its time in the sun. In fact, over the past 10 years, billions in both government and commercial funds have poured into the area, with major upgrades to schools, community amenities (like this fantastic centre next door), sporting precincts, public parks, infrastructure, health centres and leisure facilities now completed or in the works.
And that means it’s also a brand new day for local families like yours! These new investments mean better employment opportunities, better education for your kids, healthier and more active lifestyles and safer neighbourhoods.
